Trastevere, comes from the latin words “Trans Tiberim” which means, beyond the Tiber. And that is also where you will find it, just like a postcard, maybe the most characteristic area of Rome. Narrow allays with the laundry spread between the building walls, handicraft studios, and roman trattorias.


Trastevere used to be the working class quarter, then became the area of the artists. Today it is very popular among romans as well as tourist, here you will find bars and restaurants at every corner. Although the sight of Piazza Trilussa by night or the Square of Santa Maria in trastevere by day, can look very busy, Trastevere never loses it’s authentic atmosphere!


You will still find the artist working on his painting with the studio door slightly open, or the local “trasteverino” sitting outside his house chatting to the neighbour. If you gaze towards the sky you will see picturesque terraces covering the buildings of Trastevere, almost giving you the impression that the city continues on the rooftops.


Take your time to see this beautiful part of the city, visit it’s old churches, cross the beautiful piazza’s, enjoy a glass of wine in one of the many “Winerias” and maybe rest your legs having a piece of pizza on the staircase of Piazza Trilussa.

From Leonardo Da Vinci Airport (FCO Fiumicino)
The easiest way to reach our guest house from Fiumicino airport is to take the train to Trastevere station, it takes 26 minutes and it leaves the airport every half an hour (at 27min past and at 57min past) the cost is 6.00 Euros. Once at Trastevere station, you need to take the tram number 8 (direction Argentina), which leaves from viale Trastevere (just outside the station), and get off after 5 minutes at Trastevere/Mastai (5th stop). Walk down the first small alley on the right, Via C.Marmaggi , turn the first corner on the left and you'll find the small street, Via di san Crisogono and our entrance.


From Ciampino Airport (CPO Ciampino)
The easiest way to reach our guest house from Ciampino airport is to take the one of the direct buses to Rome's main station "Termini". There are 3 different bus companies offering this service:
COTRAL/SCHIAFFINI; 1 single adult is 4.50 euros (can be bougth aboard), http://www.schiaffini.com/
SITBUSSHUTTLE: 1 single adult is 6 euros, http://www.sitbusshuttle.it/
TERRAVISION; 1 single adult is 8 euros (6 euros online). http://www.terravision.eu/
The journey takes approximately 40 minutes and the bus departs in association with the flight arrivals from all the main low cost airlines.


From Termini station you need to take the bus H. After 10-15 min (depending on the traffic) you will cross the river and enter Trastevere. You will need to get off at the first stop on Viale Trastevere (just after crossing the river). Walk 100 meters down Viale Trastevere and our small alley (via San Crisogono) is on the left hand side (after cinema Roma).
